East Bay Career Academy “An Interim Alternative Educational Setting”
A. William Josephs, Director
45 Day Placement
The East Bay Career Academy (EBCA) meets LEA District needs regarding “Interim Alternative Educational Settings” as defined by the RI Regulations Governing the Education of Children with Disabilities.
The EBCA Program meets the requirements of the RI Law regarding alternative settings by allowing the child to continue to progress in the general curriculum. The child is also able to continue to receive those services and modifications, including those described in the current IEP, that will enable the child to meet the goals set out in that IEP.
The EBCA also is able to include services and modifications that address the student’s dysfunctional behavior. These interventions are specifically designed to prevent the dysfunctional behavior from recurring.
Most importantly the EBCA is able to service children who require advanced psycho-educational intervention normally provided in more restrictive and expensive settings. The EBCA is able to construct and revise the functional behavioral assessment.
While the student is undergoing a 45-day placement, the EBCA will conduct a complete evaluation and assessment. Customarily this includes psychological, psychological, social work, educational/behavioral, and occupational/vocational observations, assessments, and reports.
The cost for the 45-Day Placement, including all the necessary testing, is $ 7,500.00*.
* Can be adjusted to a per diem rate if less time is required.
