Readers Workshop at its Best

"Oh my Gosh, it was fabulous !!! "

I am just so excited about what happened on Friday at Melville School (Portsmouth), that I wanted to share it with you.  Mary and I thought it would be fun to have both her class and mine get together to practice their reading. Well, we took it even farther than that. Since Mary was working on questioning with her kids, we thought it would be really neat if her kids (3rd graders) partnered up with mine (1st graders) and worked on the questioning strategy together.  Oh my Gosh, it was fabulous !!!   It totally blew me away to see them work,  engaged for hour and a half. The learning that occurred was unbelievable.  It truly was Readers workshop at its best!!  I even got Joanne (the principal) to come down and see it in action. The kids loved it and we are going to continue doing it every Friday Morning.  Anyway, I thought you would enjoy hearing about it and seeing some of the photos.  I just had to share it with someone who would understand my excitement.
